Two suspects on remand for four years at the Koforidua Prisons have been freed through the benevolence of BestNacem Foundation, a Non Governmental Organization.
The BestNacem Foundation intends to ensure they fit into their families and
have jobs to do.
The two suspects connived to steal a mobile phone and have been on remand
for four years awaiting justice.
The Best NACEM CEO, Stephen Nana Afful, explained, the initiative is to
support suspects who cannot get lawyers to deal with their cases.
“Ours is to be there for those who dont have what it takes to get lawyers
deal with thier cases. Integrate them in their families and empower them with
useful skills in the long term,” the CEO said. The suspects expressed
excitement about the gesture for the second chance to be responsible citizens.
They expressed gratitude recounting how not even a single relative came to
visit them during their stay in prison.
“God bless Best Nacem foundation for the support. We are grateful. No one,
not even our family members came to look for us,” one of them said. The other
added “I promise to do well from here. I advise all the youth out there to be
hardworking. It wasn’t easy being on remand for four years.”
